WRC: Sebastien Ogier led for over 200km but crashed out with just 4km remaining

One of the great things about motorsport is that results are never certain until the very finish. You can dominate a whole weekend but there is always a possibility it can go horribly wrong in the dying stages. That unfortunate scenario is exactly what happened to Sébastien Ogier at the end of last month’s Rally Catalunya. The World Champion was cruising to an easy victory on the final stage, having crushed his opposition over 3 days, but crashed with just 4km remaining.

This video captures the accident plus the emotions of Andreas Mikkelsen who became a very surprised winner. Incredibly, Mikkelsen himself crashed out of the lead on the final stage of Rally Sweden earlier this year so lady luck has now paid him back.
