This is simply a fantastic story

This is great. When the final round of the 2001 Karting World Championship was cancelled, Michael Schumacher told organisers they could move the event to his own kart track in Germany if he was allowed to take part. The result was that Schumacher – at the peak of his ability – lined up against the world’s fastest teenagers including MBM Kart teammates Lewis Hamilton & Nico Rosberg. Now with 159 Grand Prix wins between them, it was possibly the most competitive karting field of all time. Schumacher charged from last on the grid to 2nd place, but they were all beaten by Sauro Cesetti who still races karts today and presumably keeps that trophy in a very special place.
